DISTRICT 3 MINUTES – APRIL 19, 2009

The meeting opened with the Preamble.   

Secretary’s Report.   The March minutes were accepted.

Treasurer’s Report.                    Bill L. presented the bank statement/financial report.  The balance was $430.89.  Bill will send $200.00 to the Pueblo Central Office as agreed in March.  He will also check to see if they have the small blue Meeting in a Pocket and if so, he will order some.

The Treasurer’s Report was accepted. 

Committee Reports.        None.

GSR Reports.                        None.

New Business

Remember the website (www.slvaa.org) and that all content is approved and monitored by District 3 GSRs.  Notices of Serenity and the May 7 speaker meeting hosted by the Valley NA/AA groups is also on the website.

Serenity planning.              So far, a few committees have been formed:

Janet Y. has volunteered to do an Al-Anon workshop but this has yet to be confirmed.  She may also have an Al-Anon speaker.

It was suggested that District 3 groups provide a few volunteers to work the hospitality table on Saturday.  Suggested hours were 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Louise S. will make up the volunteer sheet which will be divided into two hour segments.  We will need baked goods, raw vegetables, fruit, water, soda and ice, and whatever else the groups would like to bring.

Chuck L. has prepared a draft schedule of Serenity. 

The Saturday night speaker will be Chris O. from Chicago, IL.   Chris has called and confirmed this.  The proposed Saturday lunchtime speaker will be Norine O. from Chicago, IL.  We have yet to confirm that.

It was also suggested that up to ten scholarships be offered for Serenity.  The scholarship folk can then work in exchange – cleaning up, setting up, etc.

MEALS:         Friday night: Dinner.  Saturday:  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.  Sunday:  Breakfast.

All Groups:   A reminder to donate raffle items for the Saturday night raffle.  Give all items to Candyce.
